The objective of the study is to analyze sequence data of Avian Influenza survivors and controls to find genomic regions that differ between these two groups and that, therefore, may encompass prime candidates for genes that infer resistance to HPAI.
Results from this study are expected to assist in recreating the favorable gene combinations and select birds with improved resistance to HPAI in current breeding stocks if genetic variants that convey resistance can be identified.
